Johnson Space Center intends to award a purchase order under the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA) to Litton Guidance and Control Systems for an Inertial Measurement Unit (Litton Part No. LN-200). The procurement is in support of NASA's Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER) project being developed at the Johnson Space Center. The Inertial Measurement Unit shall provide attitude rate data for three orthogonal axes of rotation. Other requirements include: POWER- ( 13 watts, nominal, 16.5 watts, maximum. INTERFACE-Digital data bus interface: EIA RS-485. RATE SENSOR PERFORMANCE-Range: +/- 30 degrees/ second; Start-up Time ( 1 sec; Bias temp sensitivity: ( 10 deg/hr over operating temp. range; Long-term bias: ( 3 deg/hr/year 1-sigma; Operating life: ) 10 years. ENVIRONMENTS-Temperature, operating: -40 deg F to +70 deg F. SIZE-Width: ( 3.5 inches; Depth: ( 3.5 inches; Height: (including mounting lip and connector): ( 3.8 inches. WEIGHT-( 3 pounds. TRACEABILITY: The unit will be procured as a flight item. A certificate of compliance must be approved. Item must be received within two months of the date of order. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed procurement is a result of a ''request for information only'' synopsis published in the Commerce Business Daily on July 6, 1994. Litton Guidance and Control Systems was the only source that met all of the specifications out of 10 responses to that synopsis.
