Officer 703-285-0009 Conduct water quality monitoring on the Tellico
Plains - Robbinsville Road project between Tellico Plains, Tennessee,
and Robbinsville, North Carolina. The purpose of water quality
monitoring on this project is to prevent environmental degradation from
the construction of Tellico Plains - Robbinsville Road. This will be
achieved through the use of biological and chemical monitoring. This
project is situated in the rugged regions of Monroe County, Tennessee,
and Graham County, North Carolina. The contractor shall furnish all
necessary equipment, materials, and personnel for the collection,
testing, and reporting of biological and chemical monitoring
parameters. The water quality monitoring consists of two phases:
construction and post construction. The tests to be conducted on the
chemical monitoring samples are pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity,
turbidity, acidity, alkalinity, total suspended solids, and water
temperature. During the biological monitoring, the streams will be
sampled for fish and macroinvertebrates. In addition the following
water quality parameters will be collected and analyzed: sulfates,
aluminum, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, and oil and grease. The
anticipated period of performance will be for 22 months with an option
to renew for 1 additional year. This shall be a fixed-price type of
contract. This procurement shall be a Small Business Concern set-aside.
The SIC Code for this requirement is 8734. All responsible sources may
submit a bid which will be considered. Documents may be obtained on or
about April 10, 1995. Date for receipt of bids will be on or about May
