COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 5,1995 PSA#1318National Institutes of health, Division of Procurement, AB-B 6120
Executive Blvd., Room 828, Rockville, MD 20892 66 -- FURNISH AND INSTALL A BIACORE 2000 SOL 263-95-P(BD)-0123 DUE
051995 POC Marcia Goldman, Contracting Officer, (301) 496-2302. 17. The
National Institues of Health (NIH) has a requirement to purchase a
BIAcore 2000 to be delivered F.O.B. destination to Bethesda, Maryland.
The BIAcore 2000 is required by the National Institutes of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases (NIAID) which offers the opportunity to study
binding interactions between biomolecules in real time, thereby
allowing kinetic analysis not possible by other technologies. Moreover,
the technology cirumvents the need to label the molecular spieces of
interest, thereby avoiding potential false results associated with
modifications caused by labeling, as well as the time, expense
biohazards, and disposal costs associated with modifications caused by
labeling process(i.e., when radioisotopes are used). NIH intends to
contract with Pharmacia Biosensor, 800 Central Avenue, P.O. Box 1327,
Piscataway, N.J. 08855 under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 for this
equipment. It is believed that Pharmacia Biosensor is the sole source
with the required specifications needed. The equipment necessary for
use by the NIAID must have the following specifications: 1. Instrument
shall use surface plasmon resonance to detect and continuously monitor
molecular interactions simutaneously in up to 4 flow cells in
real-time, label free. 2. Instrument shall be fully automated for
sample handling and shall include sample recovery and fraction
collection. 3. Instrument shall be capable of detecting low molecular
weight molecules in a wide range of temperatures. 4. Contractor shall
allow for trade- in of Government owned BIAcore s/n 33-5350-0415
purchased in September 1994. This is not a formal solicitation.
Concerns that respond to this notice must furnish concise responses
directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources
demonstating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply
pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate that ability
to perform. Infromation furnished shall include enough material to
perform a proper evaluation by. Interested parties may submit detailed
data by which to evaluate capabilities to the attention of Marcia
Goldman at the address above. This notice may represent the only
official notice of such procurement. See note(s) 12, 22 (0050). (0093) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0425 19950404\66-0002.SOL)
