R -- AUTOMATED SURFACE OBSERVING SYSTEM (ASOS) COOPERATORS, WEATHER OBSERVATIONS AND RELATED SERVICES, NWS CONTRACT METEOROLOGICAL OFFICE, COLORADO SPRINGS,CO SOL 51WCNW506064JD DUE 052295 POC Joseph D'Felio, (816)426-7267, extension 225 The National Weather Service (NWS) plans to issue a solicitation to perform the augmentation of the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), backup of essential elements of the ASOS and the data continuity program at the Weather Service Contract Meteorological Office (WSCMO), Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Contractor will be required to provide NWS certified ASOS Cooperators to augment and backup essential elements of ASOS on a continuous basis, 24 hours daily. The augmenter program consists of manually adding data to an automated surface weather observation that is beyond the observing capability of ASOS. The backup program consists of evaluating and reporting data normally evaluated and reported by ASOS. The data continuity program consists of recording data at each six hourly observation (midnight, 6 AM, noon, 6 PM). The contract will contain options to extend performance for two consecutive 12 month periods. The total duration of the contract shall not exceed thirty-six months. Solicitation will be issued on or about April 22, 1995. The anticipated performance for the award period is July 1, 1995 through June 30, 1996. This is a total small business set-aside.
