The Bionetics Corporation, a prime contractor for NASA/Ames Research Center, is seeking potential sources for a programmable tubular microporous membrane for membrane distillation of water from water to a hard vacuum. The material of the unit sought must be tubular in shape and rigid enough to withstand an external water pressure difference of less than 45 psia and greater than 15 psia. The internal diameter will be less than 0.5 inch, preferably about 0.125 inch. Length must be greater than 3 inches. Under these conditions, external liquid water pressure and internal vacuum no liquid water will be allowed to pass through the wall of the tube but vapor water will pass. This sources sought synopsis is for planning purposes only. This is not an RFP.
