Graalman,301621-0173. The NASA Center for AeroSpace Information is
interested in sources capable of supplying a commercially available
integrated library software package. The package will support a 13
library nation-wide consortium consisting of approximately 300,000
titles and 400,000 volumes. The software offered must include the
following modules: on-line public access catalog (OPAC), cataloging and
authority control, acquisitions, serials control, circulation, and an
extensive management information reporting capability. The system must
store data in MARC format and be able to import and export data in
USMARC. Software must be true client-server architecture with record
processing split between client and server. The system must be able to
be easily re- configured to change the number and location of servers
while being transparent to users/clients. The server software must use
a standard relational database management system that will operate on
a RS/6000 computer running under AIX. Client software must work with
MS-Windows 3.1 and Macintosh System 7, true multi- task processing is
preferred. A Graphical User Interface and character-based search
functionality must be available for OPAC access. In addition the client
software must operate in a broad range of network environments
including LAN's and WANs, network systems will include but not be
limited to Novell Netware, Microsoft LAN Manager, and IBM LAN Server,
all using TCP/IP protocol. The software will take advantage of
Structured Query Language (SQL) and must be written to be compliant
with OSI and appropriate NISO standards including but not limited to
Z39.50. The vendor must have a proven record of migrating existing
bibliographic, item, patron, vendor, and circulation data from a
MVS/CICS-based NOTIS Library Management System and be able to begin
migration 90 days after signing a contract. Interfaces between the new
system and the existing NOTIS LMS must be maintained until all
libraries are implemented on the new system. This notice is a sources
