NSN: 6140-01-089-7636, BB-542/U, IAW U.S. Army CECOM Specification PSDRS-002 For Sealed Nickel-Cadmium Battery BB-542/U. The Government has screened 398 BB-542/U Sealed NiCd batteries manufactured from 1981 by both SAFT America and Frezzolini. All defective control modules have been removed and defects requiring repair/replacement such as vent valves, diodes, and cracked cases have been noted. The Government believes that the high value of the usable components such as control modules, connectors, and mounting hardware makes rebuilding of 346 of these a economical choice. Assorted parts, less working control modules, equivalent to approximately 51 batteries will be provided for use by the contractor. Unused parts and components will become the property of the contractor to be disposed of as desired. The US ARMY COMMUNICATIONS COMMAND (CECOM) has established an Electronic Bulletin Board (EBB) to provide electronic transmittal of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitations for Bids (IFBs) from Government to Industry. AS OF 01 JANUARY 1995, HARD COPIES WILL NO LONGER BE DISTRIBUTED. (Exceptions are Post, Camp and Station Acquisitions). All interested parties wishing to do business with CECOM are invited to access, operate, send and receive data from the CECOM EBB system.
