sewers at the USCG Support Center Kodiak, Alaska. Base Bid work shall
include removing and replacing approximately 1580 linear feet of
sanitary and storm sewers in the barracks/gymnasium area. Install
approximately 480 linear feet of new alignment sanitary sewer in the
barracks. Remove and replace approximately 450 linear feet of sanitary
sewer near the Nemetz Park area. Work also includes sewer structures,
pump pit, related sewer items and restoration of existing facilities
damaged or removed during construction of the sewers. Extra sidewalk
replacement in the area of the barracks is also included. Option Bid
work shall include removing and replacing approximately 780 linear feet
of sanitary sewer in and along Windrider Drive and installing
approximately 390 linear feet of new sanitary sewer in the area of
Fishing Rip Court. Option Bid work includes structures, related sewer
items and restoration of facilities damaged or removed during
construction of the sewer. Sealed bid solicitation to be issued on or
about April 11, 1995. Estimated cost range for the base and option bid
items is between $500,000. and $1 million dollars. Requests for bid
documents must be submitted and received by this office not later than
April 10, 1995. This procurement is being issued pursuant to the Small
Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. FOR MINORITY, WOMEN AND
DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES ONLY: The Department of
Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts.
This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier.
The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid,
performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT
provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against
losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending
Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further
