70 -- AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER SIMULATION TESTBED (SDTF) SOL RFP2-36547(CDT) DUE 042895 POC Carlos D. Torrez, 415/604-5797, e-mail address to Carlos_ Torrez@qmgate.arc.nasa.gov NASA Ames Research Center has a requirement for an air traffic control tower simulation testbed (SDTF). This system will be used to design, develop and validate automation tools for operational air traffic control towers. The test bed design will be base-lined by the computer requirements for a commercial off the shelf tower simulation software package. This simulation package must operate within the existing Airport Control Tower's Physical Environment at NASA-Ames Research Center. The proposed SDTF package must provide the following capabilities: photographic quality images; simulation of a 360 degree out-the-window view and operation of an airport operations tower; Create 3-D models of an airport based on digitized photographs and other available terrain and architectural data with the capability to develop new models or integrate vendor-provided models; Display 200+ moving targets, including airplanes, helicopters, trucks, emergency vehicles and maintenance vehicles depicted as 3-D graphic models driven by realistic performance; Provide for current airport data feeds both live and logged data, specifically supplied by the airport in a given simulation, and situation development function enabling the simulation of regular operations with the capability of injecting irregular conditions. All offerors must provide a demonstration of their product to Ames. In addition, the successful offeror must provide the source code to Ames. Delivery of an operational system is due to Ames within 30 days of contract award. This requirement is being conducted on a full and open competition basis. All interested parties may requesta copy of the solicitation by sending a request to: NASA/Ames Research Center, Attn: Carlos D. Torrez, Mail Stop 241-1, Moffett Field, CA 94035-1000 or by facsimile requests to 415/604-4646. Telephone requests will not be accepted. All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. NASA-Ames Research Center has an active Home Page.
