COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 20.1995 PSA#1306National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, Purchasing and
Support Contracts Section, EPS/638, 6120 EXECUTIVE BLVD MSC 7228 65 -- CACHE WORKSTATION SOL N02-CM-56235-84 POC Eileen Keating,
Contract Specialist or Janet Mattson, Contracting Officer,
301/402-4509. The National Cancer Institute, Laboratory of Medicinal
Chemistry (LMC) plans to procure on a SOLE SOURCE basis under authority
of FAR 6.320-1, in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), a Cache
Workstation and related components from Cache Scientific. It is
essential that the LMC purchase a Cache Workstation in order to meet
their molecular modeling needs for several research projects. In order
to meet the needs of their research projects, the system must have the
following specifications: The product must be 100% compatible (fully
icon and menu driven) with Macintosh computers. It must have the
capability to graphically build any molecule composed of any element up
to Lawrencium (element 103). It must allow the stereoscopic display of
structures, optimization pathways, partial charges, bond orders,
molecular orbitals, gradient mapped electron densities, electrostatic
isopotentials, super delocalizabilities, and visualization with
analysis of compound's UV spectra interactively coupled to a molecular
display window which reveals chromophores upon selection of spectral
peaks and visualization of corresponding molecular orbitals. It must
provide full support for viewing and pointing three dimensional objects
with a pointing device (i.e. mouse) and a holding device (i.e., a 3-D
trackball). It must allow the user to construct three- dimensional
structures using a viewable tethered three dimensional cursor. Since
the work intended requires intensive use of three dimensional displays
of asymmetric molecules this capability is indispensable. It must
allow the user to edit or visualize several molecules in separate,
concurrent stereoscopic or mono windows. Furthermore, it must allow the
user to manipulate selected portions, as well as all of a molecule and
to paste it or copy it into another window. It must be able to
transfer images directly from the molecular visualization applications
into a standard word processing, drawing and paint program at
specified resolution up to 300 dpi. It is the Government's belief that
the above specifications can only be met by Cache Scientific. This
notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however,
if an interested party believes they can meet the above specifications,
they may submit a statement of capabilities. Information furnished
shall include enough material, in sufficient detail to perform a proper
evaluation of their ability to perform. Closing date is 45 days after
publication of this notice. SEE Note 22. (0075) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0365 19950317\65-0001.SOL)
