Dahlgren, VA 22448-5100 A -- DESIGN AND FABRICATE A SPLIT HOPKINSON BAR SYSTEM SOL
N00178-95-R-1036 POC Sharon M. Jones, Contract Specialist, Code S115,
or G. R. Vaughan, Contracting Officer, Code S105 on (703) 663-7478.
Design and Fabrication a Split Hopkinson Bar System that is capable of
high strain rate (approximately 10,000 per second) tension and
compression material testing. This system is to be designed to load
material samples using a single direct loading pulse in both tension
and compression. This effort will be negotiated on a sole source basis
with the University of California, San Diego. The period of
performance is six months. Unique qualifications to provide the Split
Hopkinson Bar System which directly tie into this requirement are
actively being engaged in research of the high strain rate material
response of metals for many years. This system features include a
unique value design which makes the pneumatic system safe and sound and
a direct tension pulse used in tension tests. The proposed type of
contract is a firm fixed price. All responsible sources may submit a
statement of capability which will be considered. See Numbered Note: 22
