Branch, 425 I Street, N.W., Room 2102, Washington, D.C. 20536 58 -- RADIO AND COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT Sol HQ-95-12. POC John
Dragonetti, 202/514-2646. The Immigration and Naturalization Service
(INS) intends to issue a supplmental agreement with Motorola, Inc.
under Contract COW-0-90160. This modification to the contract will be
for adding ASTRO radio equipment and extending the term of the contract
by eight months. The extension is needed to continue the present
service to the agency while a new competitive solicitation is being
prepared. These encrypted radios will be portable/handheld and mobile
radios. These radios are narrowband, backward and forward compatible.
The Astro is essential for the INS because of its compatible and
interoperability with existing digital 12.0 kb/s DES/DES-XL//OSTAR
digital communications equipment and old analog systems currently in
use by INS. Astro also satisfies the requirement for narrowband
equipment mandated by the National Telecommunications and Information
Administration (NTIA). The bases for the sole source is 41 U.S.C.
253(c)(1), only one responsible source. This is not a request for
proposals and no solicitation will be available for release. This
synopsis is for information purposes only. (072) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0324 19950316\58-0003.SOL)
