US Army ARDEC is conducting a market survey for literature regarding
a Non-development item (NDI) 60mm Enhanced Lethality Mortar Cartridge
which exhibits both Anti-Personnel and Anti-Materiel characteristics.
The proposed cartridge must be safe, effective, reliable, and
compatible with the U.S. Army's 60MM Mortar Tube (M244) and components
(fin, fuze, propellent systems). The projectile body should be capable
of producing approximately twice the lethality of the present
ammunition with an additional anti-materiel effect. The following
summarizes what is being sought: Caliber: 60mm; Length: 335mm; Weight:
1.9 kg; Fragment Mass 0.2g: Fragment Pieces: 2000; Explosive:
Composition B; Fuze: M734 MOF; Mortar: US M224; Approximate Range: 150
- 3000m; Temperature: -65 degrees F to + 165 degrees F (storage), -45
degree F to +125 degrees F (operational); Reliability: .98. This
