Campbell, (703)235-4375, Contracting Officer, Charles Hill, (703)235-3443 The United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, will issue a Request for Information (RFI) to all prospective industry respondents for REMOTE SENSING and IMAGE PROCESSING on March 17, 1995. This RFI requests industry comments by close of business June 16, 1995. No contract will result from replies received and elaborate responses are not required. Responses will be reviewed and, if needed, the respondent will be contacted and details of their reply discussed. After review of all responses, the Forest Service may issue a second RFI. This RFI is intended to broaden the information base used in refining and modifying the statement of work, which will lead to development and implementation of a Remote Sensing and Image Processing program within the Forest Service. Respondents are encouraged to be innovative in proposing changes or alternatives to the statement of work. Included in this should be consideration of forming appropriate teaming or subcontractual relationships with related industries. Respondents should also consider the possibility that the remote sensing and image processing resources may be needed to satisfy various land management agency requirements. The Forest Service is interested in considering ways in which specifications may be improved, to provide open competition to a wide range of potential vendors and to discover alternate ways to meet stated needs. Comments should provide sufficient information to support your position. In general, a detailed item-by-item analysis is not requested. Should you feel there are other issues pertinent to the RFI, you are encouraged to include them in your response.
