(508)651-5453 The U.S. Army Soldier System Command, Natick Research,
Development and Engineering Center (Natick MA.) is conducting a MARKET
SURVEY for manufacturers who are currently producing Individual
Modular Load Bearing Equipment. Load-Bearing Vests should have the
ability to attach/detach pockets for carrying combat essential items
such as rifle magazines and grenades. The backpack should have two main
compartments that are either permanently fixed together or detachable,
and mounted on an external packframe. The BACKPACK should also have
attachable/detachable outside pockets and a small day pack. It is
desired that the external pack frame be directly secured to the
load-bearing vest without the need for separate shoulder and waist
straps. The Pack Frame/Vest system should have release mechanism to
quickly doff the pack from the vest. Interested firms must submit
within 45 days following the publication of this market survey,
information on their products. This should include at a minimum an item
description which details the material descriptions, illustrations with
corresponding descriptive information, previous related experience,
personnel resumes, list of facilities, and any other specific
information which the firm believes demonstrates its capability to
produce the above items. In addition, include whether the firm is a
small business, women owned or socially and economically disadvantaged.
For the purpose of this requirement, any concern with less than $5
million in annual receipts is considered a small business, (SIC 5941).
A limited quantity of selected items may be purchased for future
