70 -- ACQUISITION OF PORTABLE DATA COLLECTION EQUIPMENT SOL DECA01-CBD5-0001. POC Contracting Officer, F. Michele Templeman, (804)734-8666. The Defense Commissary Agency is seeking sources which can provide the following types of equipment. A portable data collection device, one handed operation, industrially hardened. The collection terminal must include an integrated scanner, MS-DOS Operation System 5.0 or higher; 1 MB RAM; Operating and spare battery packs; PCMCIA reader; GemPlus Pocket Reader; PCMCIA Compatible; ICC/PDCD Reader/Writer; Battery charger/discharger unit for PDCD one handed operation; Extra Batteries; communications dock (network capable and connectivity to PC); Serial Cables (connection to Parallel Printer, 486 Windows, and Network connection); and a minimum of 3.5 meg ATA Type II Flash Memory. The configuration identified above is the minimum requirement. Vendors are also requested to provide any and all upgrade capabilities which are available with the device for which technical literature is provided. Vendors are requested to submit complete technical literature in an original form. At the present time there is no solicitation available for this requirement. The Government shall issue a new synopsis if and when a decision is made to acquire such a portable data collection device. All information must be mailed. NO FAX responses will be accepted.
