COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 13,1995 PSA#1301U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation
and Enforcement, Ten Parkway Center, Pittsburgh, PA 15220 67 -- ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS - BOREHOLE VIDEO SYSTEM Sol
143868-RFP95-12078. Due 041795. POC Judy M. Gerlach, (412) 937-2842.
The OSM has a requirement to purchase electronic components for a
borehole video system. The borehole video system includes downhole
camera probes, wire-line telemetry cable, wire-line winch reel system,
and surface control and monitoring system. This system is used for
viewing borehole, shafts, and mine voids with axial and radial view
cameras. This system includes components that provide appropriate
lighting, side view scanning, compass azimuth of side view, hole
orientation, and measurement of side view distances. The system was
designed and fabricated by Science Applications International
Corporation, SEA Operations for OSM in 1992. Two major components were
destroyed and require replacement. The components interconnect with
other probe modules and the surface control console. One component is
a radial pinhole camera with lens and lighting to provide a close-up
view typical in boreholes. The other component is an
electronic/instrument module that provides power and signal
conditioning for the camera module. This component also includes
instrumentation for rotating the downhole probe, inclinometers,
fluxgate compass and computer control circuitry. Modifications to the
replacement components are being considered in this procurement. These
modifications include a low light intensifier, adding radial distance
measurement capability to the radial pinhole camera and a more compact
electronic compass to the instrument section. The replacement and
modification work requires extensive knowledge of the existing video
system. The replacement components must operate with the existing
cameras, telemetry and control system. One of each component is to be
procured. Estimated cost is under $75,000. The components shall be
compatible with existing equipment and shall undergo Final Acceptance
Testing. Fabrication and delivery is to be completed within 120 days
from date of award. Full warranty of components is required for one
year from acceptance date. Negotiations to be conducted solely with
Sachse Engineering Associates, Inc., (S.E.A), 5480 Baltimore Drive,
LaMesa, CA 91942-2066. Any other sources that can meet the stated
requirements must furnish proof of capability in writing not later than
30 days from the date of this publication. Funds are currently not
available. Solicitation No. 143868-RFP95-12078 will be available on or
after April 17, 1995. All requests must be in writing to the attention
of Judy M. Gerlach at the above address. No telephone or facsimile
requests will be honored. (066) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0392 19950310\67-0001.SOL)
