20857 Attn:5-101 PKLN/Michele Trotter Q -- PRECEPTED CLINICAL EXPERIENCE FOR NEWLY GRADUATED REGISTERED
NURSES POC Michele Trotter tel: 301/443-2475/Janet H. Miller,
Contracting Officer, (301) 443-2475 LINE SOURCES SOUGHT #2 The Division
of Nursing, Indian Health Service (IHS), is seeking qualified sources
to provide a precepted clinical experience for newly graduated
registered nurses. The participants will be primarily recipients of IHS
scholarships, with others eligible as funding allows. Many of these
scholarship recipients will be seeking employment in rural facilities,
where staffing may make it difficult to provide adequate supervisory
support for new nurses to make the transition from student to
functioning professional. Requirements for the program are: 1) a
didactic portion which provides a bridge from the theory of the
recently completed academic program to the realities of clinical
activity; 2) clinical rotations through primary nursing specialty areas
(medical/surgical; obstetrics; ambulatory care; pediatrics). Exposure
to intensive care and emergency room is desirable. At the end of the
program, the new nurse should be comfortable with the coordination and
management of the nursing care for an average patient component for
the paraticular unit. It is expected that 4 classes of 6 students each
could be funded per year. Concerns having the ability to provide the
service described are invited to give written notification to Michele
Trotter, Contract Specialist, DHHS/PHS/OASH, 5600 Fishers Lane, Room
5-101, Rockville, MD 20857, facsimile (301) 443-3849, within 30
calendar days from the date of publication of this notice. Responses
shall include but not be limited to evidence of the following: a)
availability of clinically qualified registered nurse preceptor(s); b)
location and type of clinical rotation sites; c) proposed curriculum
(both didactic and clinical) outline. Firms having the required
specialized capabilities to meet the above requirements should submit
appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, and references to
demonstrate and support that they have the necessary experience,
resources and staff to successfully accomplish the described effort.
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. (0065) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0089 19950307\Q-0008.SOL)
