The work involves mechanical, electrical, and architectural modifications to the existing boiler/mechanical rooms in buildings 416, 419, 420, 446, 452 and 1597. The rooms house heating hot water (building 1597 only) and steam generating systems utilizing the campus high temperature hot water (HTHW) through heat exchangers. The modifications include, but are not limited to, replacing the existing systems with new gas-fired heating hot water or steam boilers, providing new unit heaters, and providing combustion air to the new boilers. Building 452 modification includes, but is not limited to, removing the existing heating system. The projected date for issuance of the solicitation is 27 March 1995. The projected date for receipt of bids is 27 April 1995. Requests for plans and specifications may be mailed to the above address, attention Plans and Specifications Office, or sent via facsimile to (202)433-0939. There is no charge for the documents, however a limited number will be printed and will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. The estimated cost range is between $250,000 and $500,000. This acquisition is being considered as a 100% small disadvantaged business set-aside. Interested SDB concerns should notify this office, in writing, of their intention to bid the project as a prime contractor as early as possible but not later than 15 days from the date of this notice. The notification must contain a positive statement of eligibility as a small socially and economically disadvantaged business concern; evidence of capacity to obtain required bonds and specific information which demonstrates the capability to perform projects of this nature and size. If adequate interest is not received, the solicitation will be issued as an unrestricted procurement without further notice. Therefore, replies to this notice are requested from all firms.
