COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 7,1995 PSA#1297NOAA, WASC, Procurement Division WC33, 7600 Sand Point Way NE, BIN
C15700, Seattle, WA 98115 B -- KILLER WHALE INVESTIGATION IN PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND, ALASKA SOL
52ABNF5-00090 DUE 042595 POC For a copy of the solicitation, call Klint
Demetrio at 206-526-4499. For further information, call Contract
Specialist Sharon Kent at 206-526-6035. There are two parts to the
killer whale study: Killer Whale Recovery Monitoring and Effects of
Killer Whale Predation on Harbor Seals. The objectives for monitoring
are: (1) to photographically identify residents and transient pods of
killer whales in Prince William Sound (PWS) with focus on the AB pod,
and (2) determine the recovery or lack of recovery of the AB pod of
killer whales. The objectives for the harbor seal portion are: (1)
analyze historical data on feeding, habitat use and distribution of
killer whales, (2) determine if resident and transient pods using PWS
are genetically distinct; continue estimation of feeding differences
between the two types; and (3) compare dietary preferences of resident
and transient killer whale pods in PWS by using fatty acid and stable
isotope analyses of skin and blubber as an indication of dietary
differences between the two types. The period of performance is
estimated to take 10 months. All interested responsible sources may
submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. (0062) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0019 19950306\B-0002.SOL)
