COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 24,1995 PSA#12902451 Crystal Drive Arlington, VA 22245-5200 D -- SHIPBOARD UHF OMNI DIRECTIONAL ANTENNA POC Matthew E. Brandt, PMW
172-12B, 703-602-8279 or Linda Squires, 02-32, 703-602-0660. Synopsis
No. 23. Space and Naval Warfare Systems (SPAWAR) is seeking detailed
information concerning an omnidirectional UHF antenna for maritime
application. Current interest is that the UHF antenna is vertically
polarized, a four-element array (minimum) providing omnidirectional
azimuth coverage over a frequency range from 1350 to 1850 megahertz
(MHz), when mounted around a central support conducting mast ranging
from 10.16 cm (four inches) to 38.10 cm (15 inches) in diameter. In
addition to general antenna description, the radiation pattern must
occur at zero elevation over the 1350 to 1850 MHz band. The horizontal
pattern of this antenna must be omnidirectional to within q 2 decibels
(dB) over the entire 1350 to 1850 MHz frequency range. Furthermore, the
antenna polarization shall transmit or receive vertically polarized RF
energy, which is capable of handling up to 400 watts variable
peak-envelope-power (PEP) and have maximum dB gain that antenna design
approach will allow, alternative designs are encouraged. The impedance
at the input to the antenna shall match the 50-ohm impedance of the
input coaxial cable, so that the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR)
does not exceed 2.0:1 over the entire 1350 to 1850 MHz range when
mounted. Information submitted should include all available White
Papers describing: 1) details of the antenna design, 2) antenna testing
and reliability data, 3) delivery and cost data. Please note that this
is a Request For Information only, and that no procurement documents
for such an antenna exist at this time. SPAWAR may, however, use
information obtained through this request when structuring future
NDI/COTS procurement documents which may include a requirement for
demonstration of the proposed antenna prior to award of any future
contract. Interested parties should indicate whether they are small
business, small disadvantaged business, or 8(a). This is not a request
for proposal (RFP), a promise to issue an RFP, nor a promise by the
government to pay for information received in response to this
synopsis. Acknowledgement of receipt will not be made nor will
telephone inquiries be honored. Proprietary data submitted in response
to this synopsis will be protected when designated. A procurement, if
any, resulting form this synopsis will be separately synopsized by RFP
in the CBD. Interested offerors may send information by 23 February
1995 to: Commander, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, Attn:
Matthew E. Brandt, RF Systems Engineer, Code: PMW 172-12B, Room 540,
2451 Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA 22245-5200. Please reference this
synopsis no. 23 on both mailing envelope and the enclosures. (0053) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0027 19950223\D-0006.SOL)
