Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division Warminster (NAWCADWAR) is
seeking information and commercial sources for products and
technologies which may be applicable toward increasing the
crashworthiness of military rotary-wing aircraft and survivability of
the aircraft occupants. NAWCADWAR is conducting an Advanced Crashworthy
Aircrew Survival System (ACASS) program to develop a methodology and
products to improve current future rotary wing crashworthiness to
maximize occupant survivability. This program is studying a wide range
of technologies which influence the outcome of a crash. It is intended
to integrate these technologies into an overall system that works in
unison to protect crew and passengers in this hazardous environment.
Technologies being considered but are not limited to: structural
improvements to the airframe for water and ground impacts,
delethalization of the aircraft interior, crashworthy seating for all
occupants, restraints and impact protection devices, underwater escape
