COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 22,1995 PSA#1288Lockheed Idaho Technologies Company, P.O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID
83415-3810 A -- RETRACTABLE BARRIER STRIP. Contact Mr. Larry W. Hops. Lockheed
Idaho Technologies Company (LITCO), P.O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID
83415-3810. LITCO, the prime operating contractor for the Department of
Energy at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) has
developed and a patent has been applied for the following technology:
Retractable Spiked Barrier Strip. This device is a highly innovative
method for disabling fleeing or speeding vehicles. The invention is a
portable and retractable spiked strip that may be placed on the roadway
in front of fleeing or speeding vehicles. Since the hollow spikes can
be retracted it allows for vehicles, other than fleeing or speeding
vehicles, to pass without harm. The control system to activate (raise
or lower) the spikes is approximately (12) twelve feet from the
beginning of the Barrier Strip which allows the operator to be out of
harms way. The spikes can be retracted which eliminates the possibility
of the operator accidentally falling on the device during deployment
and becoming injured by the spikes. LITCO is soliciting a written
indication of interest from industry parties who would consider
entering into license negotiations for the purpose of commercializing
this technology. Interested parties should send a description of their
company, their research and manufacturing capability to: Mr. Larry W.
Hops, Account Executive, Technology Transfer Office, Lockheed Idaho
Technologies Company, P.O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3810. This
solicitation will close (30) thirty days after publication in this
issue of the Commerce Business Daily. (046) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0009 19950221\A-0009.SOL)
