PRC Inc. in execution of Contract No. 50-SAPT-4-00319 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Department of Commerce, hereby issues a sources sought request with the intent to procure one Amdahl processor for USPTO under a firm fixed price vehicle. The Automated Patent System is a mainframe based, text and image search and retrieval system. This system was designed for the bulk storage and rapid retrieval of patents by the Examining Corps. The current system runs on Amdahl 5990-1100 three-way multiprocessor which is completely compatible with IBM's MVS/ESA architecture. USPTO has a requirement to upgrade the current Amdahl 5990- 1100 to a 5990-1400 to absorb increases in processing load. In order to upgrade the current system, a fourth processor is required. The offeror shall bid either a new or used Amdahl processor with a microcode machine level of 3.1 and all necessary cabling. The Offeror shall propose Amdahl installation. The Offeror shall propose a six month warranty on the new or used equipment. The processor shall have an availability of 99 percent over a 13.5 hour day, Monday through Saturday from 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM (local time). Offeror shall propose Amdahl 24 hours x 7 days a week, 2 hour response time maintenance for the warranty period.
