Maples, GP25/Contracting Officer NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for
Offer (RFO) for 50KeV Electron Flood System, Kimball Part Number
FG-9/EGPS-9 or equal -- Quantity 1 System -- Specifications: The fully
integrated system shall consist of the following subsystems meeting
the listed specifications: (1) 19 inch rack mounted electron flood gun
controller unit with a minimum of 50 foot of cabling between the rack
mounted hardware and the vacuum system hardware be as follows: a.
Chassis must provide a standard 19 inch rack mounted front panel and a
roller glide system for easy maintenance access; b. Unit shall provide
manually adjustable metered controls of beam energy, beam current, beam
divergence, and the anode, grid, and cathode voltages; c. Unit shall
provide remote analog control of beam energy, beam current, beam
divergence, and the anode, grid, and cathode voltages; d. Power
requirements: Single phase, 60 Hz,120v; e. Controller Unit shall be
compatible with subsystems 2 and 3 -- (2) 19-inch rack mounted 50KV
power supply shall be as follows: a. Cassis must provide a standard 19
inch rack mounted front panel; b. Unit shall provide adjustable
metered control to vary output voltage from 1Kv to 50KV; c. Unit shall
be compatible to subsystems 1 and 3 -- (3) Vacuum system mounted
electron flood gun source:shall include: a. Mount to a 6 inch O.D.
conflat vacuum flange; b. Maximum of 10 inch of the Flood electron gun
source shall not extend more than 10.5 inches beyond the vacuum
interface flange into the vacuum chamber; c. Maximum of 20 percent
variance in beam uniformity from the center of the beam to the outer
edge; d. The cathode, filament, or firing unit assembly shall be
capable of being replaced by the user and not harmed by repeated
exposure to atmospheric gases while cold; e. The high voltage cable
furnished to connect the Flood Electron Gun to item number 1 e. a
minimum of 50 foot in length and shielded; f. Four spare cathode,
filament, or firing unit assemblies shall be included; g. Operational
capability shall be 10E-4 Torr or lower; h All materials exposed to
vacuum shall be high vacuum compatible; limited to metal, ceramics,
and/or Teflon type materials -- System verification testing shall be
performed and documented with a minimum of 8-hour burn-in, to these
following overall specifications: beam current, measured with a faraday
cup, shall be measured for one hour at 10nA and 100nA, measured for 30
minutes at 1uA and 10uA, and measured for 10 minutes at 100uA; beam
energy shall be controllable, without sparking events, from 1Kev to
50Kev -- Documentation: two sets shall be provided including
operational manuals, conditioning of new emission units and complete
schematics -- One year warranty on the system -- Delivery 120 Days --
This procurement is being conducted under the NASA/MSFC MidRange Pilot
Test Program approved by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy on
April 16, 1993 -- Requests for copies of the RFO must be submitted in
writing-- Transmission by facsimile to 205-544-9080 or by Internet
e-mail to gladys franklin @msfc.nasa.gov is acceptable -- RFO will be
released on or about 15 days after publication in the Commerce Business
Daily (CBD) -- Firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the
RFO -- This procurement is a total small business set-aside -- All
responsible business sources may submit an offer which shall be
considered by the agency -- Documents related to this procurement are
available over the Internet -- The documents are in ASCII format and
