intends to issue a fully competitive RFP for COTS workstation
computers, workstation peripherals, software and operating systems to
meet world-wide requirements. The Government seeks to acquire
state-of-the-art platforms capable of executing the latest generation
of software on POSIX compliant operating systems. The platforms will be
used in stand-alone and networked environments. Both environments
require platform configurations which are compliant with GOSIP 2 Open
Systems Standards and DoD Directive 5200.28 Security Requirements for
ADP systems. The DoD's current and future networking environment is
based on the IEEE 802.3 transport media with TCP/IP and GOSIP protocol
stacks. The purpose of this acquisition is to supply DoD Agencies with
current-technology workstations for engineering, software development,
data analysis, techical writing and graphical design. The desktop
workstation platform shall be orderable in three basic configurations
(Entry level, Midrange level, and Highend level). Office Automation
Software and Desktop Publishing shall be separately orderable. Video
Teleconferencing capability shall be provided as an option for the
desktop workstations. In-Factory internal installation of equipment
(ie., memory upgrades, accessories, software) is required. There will
be two Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contracts awarded under
this solicitation. Contracts will be awarded for a total period of
performance of 36 months. The Contractor shall provide a 36 month
on-call, on-site service warranty for CONUS and OCONUS sites.
Telephonic technical support and COTS documentation are also required.
Anticipated issue date for the RFP is on or about 31 Mar 95,
contingent upon DPA approval. Proposals and bid samples representing
all three levels of workstations will be due on or about 31 May 95.
