Ware, Contract Specialist, 601-634-2689; Mary B. Holman, Contracting
Officer, 601-634-2423 The USAE Waterways Experiment Station proposes to
issue a sole source contract to New Brunswick Scientific Co. Inc.,
Edison, New Jersey for the purchase of two bioflo III batch/continuous
culture, pc-ready fermenter systems, advanced fermentation software
kit, and additional cable. The unit must be capable of being used in
both the batch and continuous culture modes. The continuous culture
mode is required for isolation and molecular evolution of microbial
strains able to degrade highly complex organic contaminants that are
often quite refractory to microbial attack. New Brunswick Scientific is
the only known source that can provide this requirement. If no other
sources are found the Government intends to award a contract to New
Brunswick Scien- tific pursuant to the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c)(1).
