Work to be performed consists of furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to remove and dispose of asbestos, lead paint, and PCB materials, demolish and dispose of structures at the former (old) Public Health Hospital and staff quarters in Bethel, AK. Estimated price range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Bid documents will be available on or about March 21, 1995, at HHS/PHS Office of Engineering Services, address listed above. Contract completion time is 180 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. The proposed contract listed herein is set-aside under the Buy Indian Act for firms which are at least 51% Indian-owned and controlled. In accordance with the Public Health Service Acquisition Regulation Paragraph 380.503(e), not more than fifty (50) percent of the work to be performed under a prime contract awarded pursuant to the Buy Indian Act shall be subcontracted to other than Indian firms. For this purpose, work to be performed does not include the provision of materials, supplies, or equipment. Contractors should indicate whether the firm is Indian owned and controlled, the percent the firm is Indian-owned and controlled, and their interest in bidding as a prime or subcontractor. Inadequate responses from Indian prime contractors or Indian subcontrators, or both by February 24, 1995, may cause this 51% Indian Set-aside decision to be reconsidered.
