Prussia, Pennsylvania, intends to purchase a device, hereinafter
referred to as the ''irradiator'', which shall allow automatic
sequential irradiation of up to 500 Panasonic Model 801 (and all
similar Panasonic 800-series) thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs).
Dosimeter loading is via standard magazines as used in Panasonic
automatic TLD reader. The magazine changer must be provided with the
irradiator. The irradiator must be capable of containing a Cs-137
source that is stationary inside a lead shield. The irradiator must
allow TLDs to be transported into the shield for irradiation. The
contractor shall furnish all necessary control devices to allow
irradiation of TLDs to exposures as low as 5 mR and as high as at least
10 R. At exposures of 20 mR and above, the measured uncertainty of the
ECF-corrected exposure after readout of the 20 CaSO4 (CaSO) elements
of 10 sequentially irradiated TLDs must not exceed 5%. The irradiator
shall include all internal and external cables, cabinets, control
devices, and any other additional equipment needed to accomplish
automatic sequential irradiation of Panasonic TLDs. The contractor
