Officer: LISA REA, Tel:713-483-8395 The Two Phase Pump Assembly (TPPA)
Requirements. This procurement will b e conducted using Mid-Range
Procurement Procedures. Information regardin g the Mid-Range
Procurement Procedures will be included in the solicitati on package.
--N/A --The two phase pump assembly (TPPA) to be purchased shall
utilize R-134 as its working fluid, shall operate with an inlet quality
range of 0-100%, shall be capable of providing separate liquid and
vapor flow streams. The vapor flow shall be 0-700 lbm/hr and liquid
flow at 0-450 lbm/hr at no less than 12 psid head rise. The TPPA shall
have a maximum operating pressure of 200 psi, shall have a proof
pressure 300 of (+5,-0) psid and shall have a burst pressure of 800
(+10,-0) psid. The materials (both mettallic and non-metallic) selected
for the TPPA shall be from from MSFC-HDBK-527 or shall be submitted to
NASA for approv al. The TPPA power shall not exceed 750 Watts maximum,
and the TPPA shal l operate with power supplied at 28 volts DC. The
motor of the TPPA shal l be a brushless DC motor. The assembly shall be
vacuum compatible to a pressure of 1E-10 torr. The operational
temperature range is 35 degrees F to 105 degrees F, and the
non-operational temperature range is -65 degr ees F to 160 degrees F.
The TPPA's maximum allowable leakage is 1e-3 standard cc's per second
(sccs), and the TPPA shall be fabricated and maintained with a
cleanliness level of visibly clean according to SN-C-0005. The dry
weight of the TPPA shall not exceed 100 lbs. The operational lifetime
of the TPPA shal l be 750 hours minimum, and it shall be capable of
operating to the speci fied requirements after exposure to launch and
orbital environments. The TPPA shall be designed to withstand the
combined low-and high-frequency a ccelerations. The manner in which the
high-frequency accelerations are c ombined with low frequecy
accelerations shall be in accordance with NASA TM-86538. Verification
shall be by analysis. The TPPA shall be exposed to a minimum of 2
cycles of launch environments during its certification and usage. The
vendor may specify to NASA the preferred orientation of t he pump
relative to the accelerations and vibrations specified herein. --N/A
