205-544-2949/Contract Specialist An industry briefing for the UMS
procurement will be held February 22 and 23, 1995, at MSFC, Building
4200, Morris Auditorium beginning at 8:00 a.m. -- NASA plans to award
an 8 year contract for UMS consisting of a 3 year base period and 5
one-year options -- UMS will be a comprehensive mission services
contract for information services to meet the requirements of MSFC's
Mission Operations Laboratory -- The services include systems
engineering, design and development, activity preparation, operations,
hardware and software maintenance, and verification with MSFC
facilities and capabilities in support of ground and flight operations.
Facilities supported include the Huntsville Operations Support Center
and related systems, the Payload Crew Training Complex/Utilization
Development Capability, the Microgravity Development Center, and the
Distributed Active Archive Center which are used in support of Space
Transportation System, Spacelab, International Space Station Alpha,
Advanced X-Ray Astronomical Facility and Earth Observation Systems
programs. The industry briefing will be on February 22 from 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m. - Introduction, Procurement Overview, MDL briefings;
February 23 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Facility Tours and Summary Session
-- Prospective Offerors who plan to have attendees at the briefing
should furnish in writing the names, titles, citizenship, and number of
days to attend of those persons to NASA/MSFC Security Office, CN51,
MSFC, AL 35812, (Fax #205-544-5839), at least 4 days prior to the
briefing -- Badges for attendees may be picked up in the lobby of MSFC
Building 4200 prior to entering the Morris Auditorium -- Attendance at
the industry briefing is neither required nor a prerequisite for
proposal submission -- A Draft Request for Proposal (RFP) will be
released at the Industry Briefing. This is not a formal solicitation --
A formal RFP will be released at a later date -- All requests for the
Draft RFP must be in writing -- Attendees of the Industry Briefing may
pick up a copy at the briefing; all other requests for the Draft RFP
