Contract Specialist, (202) 514-3258, Joe Garforth, Contracting Officer,
(202) 514-3630 The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) intends
to issue a delivery order against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and
Firearms' contract with Motorola, Inc. (Tatf-94-10), to purchase 1,731
portable and 1,017 mobile radios. The radios are narrowband, backward
and forward compatible, encrypted ASTRO radios. The ASTRO product is
essential for the INS because of its compatibility and interoperability
with existing digital 12.0 kb/s DES/OSTAR equipment. ASTRO also
satisfies the mandated requirement for narrowband equipment. The INS
anticipates delivery of the equipment within 180 days after issuance of
delivery order. The basis for the sole source is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1),
only one responsible source. This is not a request for proposals and no
solicitation will be available for release. This synopsis is for
information purposes only. If no affirmative written responses are
received within 15 calendar days after publication of this synopsis to
the effect that a comparable source is available, or is more
advantageous to the Government than purchasing from Motorola, an order
will be placed. (0024) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0360 19950125\58-0010.SOL)
