COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 25,1995 PSA#1269LAUNCH OPPORTUNITY FOR SMALL SPACE EXPERIMENTS POC George Sabestyen
tel: 703/883-1010/Jim Jacoby 703/883-2659. NASA has contracted with CTA
Space Systems to build and launch the Small Spacecraft Technology
Initiative (SSTI) Clark satellite. The launch vehicle for this mission
is the Lockheed LLV1 and the launch date is June 1996. The Clark
spacecraft will be launched into a sun synchronous 257nm, (476 km) 97.3
degree orbit. The lift capacity of the LLV1 launch vehicle exceeds the
Clark spacecraft weight by about 210 lbs. This excess capacity is
available to launch a small secondary payload either as a free-flyer
spacecraft or as a space experiment without a customer-furnished
spacecraft. CTA invites organizations with potential secondary payloads
that can meet certain weight, interface and orbit average power
constraints to indicate their interest by February 15, 1995. In your
reply please indicate the weight, dimensions, attitude, pointing
accuracy requirements and status of your potential payload. The
secondary payloads will be screened with respect to these
characteristics and with respect to any impact they may have on the
primary mission. More detailed information will be requested for those
potential spacecraft that appear initially to be viable candidates.
The secondary payload selection process will be rapid, and cost
information will be provided to potential secondary payloads that meet
the selection criteria. Please contact Dr. George Sebestyen, CTA Space
Systems, 703-883-1010, FAX 703-883-2697, 1521 Westbranch Drive, McLean,
VA 22102, or Mr. Jim Jacoby, 703-883-2659. It is the intent that a
definitive launch agreement be reached by May 1995. Notice: This is not
a Government Solicitation. Any contract negotiated for launch of a
secondary payload on the LLV1 will be between CTA and the organization
providing that payload. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0588 19950124\SP-0002.MSC)
