Partnership in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Agency
announces formal solicitation of environmentally related proposals in
three different areas: Integration of Environmental Services Into
Manufacturing Extension Centers: to support the integratin of
environmentally-focused technical assistance, and especially pollution
prevention assistance, for smaller manufacturers into the broader
services provided by manufacturing extension centers. Development of
Environmentally Related Technical Assisance Tools and Techniques
especially for the Metal Fabrication and Finishing Industries: to
support the initial developmet and implementation of tools or
techniques which will aide manufacturing extension organizations in
providing environmentally-related services, and especially pollution
prevention services, to smaller manufacturers and which also may be of
direct use by the smaller manufacturers themselves. For ``tools and
techniques'' proposals the focus of this solicitation will be the metal
fabrication and finishing industries. While proposals will be accepted
which focus on other industry sectors, tools and techniques which will
be useful in assisting the metal fabrication and finishing industry
sectors will be given priority. Tool and Technique proposals which
apply generally across many manufacturing sectors including metal
fabrication and finishing will be given equal priority to those which
focus explicitly on those sectors. Pilot for a National Metal Finsihing
Pollution Prevention and Environmental Compliance Information Center:
to susppor the pilot implementation of a national center for the metal
finishing industry. The center will provide easy access to relevant,
current, reliable and comprehensive information on innovative
technologies, pollution prevention opportunities and regulatory
compliance. A single award will be made in this category for an
Information Center to serve the Metal Finishing Industey. Proposals for
centers to serve other industry sectors will not be considered under
this solicitation. Over $3.1 million is expected to be awarded through
this competition. The primary applicant for these awards must be a not
for profit organization, however, for-profit organization, however,
for-profit companies may be partners and sub-contractors within a
