29 -- FUEL SCAVENGING UNIT SOL F08651-95-R-0154 DUE 020395 POC Contact Mary Ann Ham, (904) 882-8583, Contract Specialist, Bonnie J Fitch, Contracting Officer. The Air Force Development Test Center (AFDTC) intends to acquire competitively 15 each hydraulically driven submersible fuel recovery pumps to extract trapped fuel from a disabled fuel storage tank. The Fuel Scavenging Unit (FSU) shall consist of the Submersible Pump (SP) and Hydraulic Power Supply (HPS) mounted in a trailer with attendant hoses and reel, reservoir, and controls. The FSU shall be equipped with 175 feet of 3/4-inch I. D. hydraulic supply hose and a like amount of return hose. Both hoses shall be compatible with jet fuel and shall be electrically conductive from end to end and shall be mounted on a hose reel. The SP and HPS combination shall be capable of lifting aviation jet fuel from a depth of at least 35 feet at a flow rate of at least 300 gallons per minute and to push the fuel against an exit discharge pressure of 42 psi in JP-8 with the HPS operating at its maximum continuous power setting. The SP shall be a commercial off-the-shelf, hydraulically powered centrifugal pump suitable for operation in a petroleum environment with removable strainer and quick-connect fittings. The SP shall not weigh more than 65 pounds and shall have handles on both sides, as well as a hoist ring on the top. The maximum length with strainer attached shall be 42 inches and maximum diameter of the SP with hydraulic and fuel hoses attached shall be 20 inches. The HPS shall be an integral package enclosed on all sides on a trailer. Technical contact is Major Droze at (904) 882-4695. Delivery of the first unit shall be 90 days after contract award with two follow-on deliveries anticipated 90 days after acceptance of Unit 1 and 210 days after acceptance of the first unit.
