This requirement encompassed those essential scientific and engineering support efforts required by the U. S. Marine Corps (MC) MARCORLOGBASES industrial operations in the areas of environmental compliance and pollution prevention. The effort will involve research, design, development, test and evaluation of technologies and may include the development of modifications of existing industrial systems, as well as the design of new systems, materials and processes. The work will directly support the MC's current project under the Scientific Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) involving volatile organic compound (VOC) destruction by means of a pilot scale air pollution control system utilizing photocatalysis, oxygenated water scrubbing and granular activated carbon currently being operated and studied by The Pennsylvania State University Applied Research Laboratory (ARL). The requirement includes future SERDP projects, Environmental Technology Initiatives (ETI) projects, and other work related to these R,D&D efforts. This requirement represents follow-on efforts to work already underway and for projects previously proposed to SERDP and ETI where ARL is identified as the performer and for future requirements similiar or involving the technnologies represented by the pilot scale system.
