The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) WasteMinimization/Pollution Prevention (WMin/PP) Program is engaged in a transition from infrastructure and programmatic development to implementation actions required to addres LANL waste reduction goals. This subcontract will request services in the area of WMin/PP implementation actions at LANL. WMin/PP implementation actions will be identified by LANL through an annual assessment of priority waste types. At this time priority waste forms are low level waste a transuranic waste as detemine by an integation of volume, cost and risk. The subcontractor will work with LANL WMin/PP Program and waste generators to identify opportunities for WMin/PP, conduct a return on investment (ROI) analysis of alternatives and implement on a priority ROI basis. The approach to waste reduction implementation must include technical, economic, and operational feasibility studies for all WMin/PP implementation actions under consideration. Special expertise in waste minimization implementation, source reduction and treatment of waste types, including radioactive waste, is critical to the subcontractor successfully assisting LANL in achieving its waste reduction goals.
