COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 12,1995 PSA#1261Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, 12350 Research
Parkway, Orlando, FL 32826-3224 69 -- PREDATOR WEAPON SYSTEM TRAINER DUE 013195 POC Contract
Specialist, John W. Purser, (407)380-4011 The US Marine Corps is
looking for Non-Developmental Item training systems to support force on
force and gunnery training requirements for the PREDATOR weapon system.
The PREDATOR is a low cost, man-portable, fire-and-forget, day/night
assault weapon designed to support short-range (17-750 meters)
anti-armor and direct-attack missions. Using the anti-armor warhead,
PREDAROR's inertial guidance system acquires a target (stationary or
moving), senses both its leading and trailing edges, flys over the
target and using a downward explosion ultimately kills the target.
Using the direct-attack warhead, PREDATOR's inertial guidance system
facilitates firing along a line-of-sight against stationary targets
(Bunkers, Structures, and light armor). The US Marine Corps requires
training systems to satisfy the PREDATOR's force-on-force and gunnery
training requirements. The PREDATOR Force-on-Force training system
should as a minimum be man-portable, MILES compatible (real-time and
training data), and ruggedized to meet the enviromental demands for a
field tactical trainer. The PREDATOR's gunnery training system should
visually replicate day/night scenarios, both European and desert
terrain, a variety of target types (OPFOR and BLUFOR), weapon effects
(anti-armor launch/hit/miss, direct-attack launch/hit/miss, missile
plume, etc.), and flight characteristics of both the anti-armor and
direct-attack warheads. Additionally, the gunnery training system
should have automated performance measurement, feedback and reporting
features (i.e. reticle aim error). The PREDATOR's gunnery training
system should as a minimum be capable of full operation in a sheltered
enviroment (classroom and deployed). The Naval Air Warfare Center
Training Systems Division encourages companies that have
Non-Developmental Item training systems that can currently meet or be
adapted to meet one or both of the Marine Corps' force-on-force and
gunnery training requirements to contact John W. Purser at the phone
number and address listed prior to 31JAN95. The target date for
delivery of the trainer is the second quarter of FY 99. Please provide
a brief written response with your approach to develop this trainer
and include your business size. (0010) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0265 19950111\69-0002.SOL)
