The base bid involves upgrading the tunnel fire alarm system; providing a new communications system; replacing the electrical receptacles; upgrading the tunnel ventilation system; upgrading and sealing the tunnel hatches; construction new structural crossovers, exhaust vents, an/ exitways. New underground runds of steam and condensate lines, as well as replacement of steam and condensate lines within the tunnel and associated asbestos insulation abatement will also be included in the project. Additive Alternate No.1 will be the repair of several concrete cracks and expansion joints in the tunnel floor, wall and ceiling. Additive alternate no. 2 will be the construction of a single structural concrete cross. The construction cost is estimated to be in the $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 range.
