66 -- CE/LC MASS SPECTROMETER SYSTEM SOL C500181T1 POC Contracting Officer, Sandra V. Savage, (513)366-2046 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Athens, Georgia Environmental Research Laboratory, has a requirement for a CE/LC mass spectrometer system. The system must be a research grade, single quadrupole, mass spectrometer system capable of directly interfacing with a high voltage capillary electrophoresis (CE) instrument and with a liquid chromatograph (LC). The system must have: (1) quadrupole mass analyzer with mass range of 10 to at least 2500 amu; (2) a detector with high energy conversion efficiency; (3) facilities for switching between negative and positive ion detection that is under data system control; (4) a vacuum system that can reduce the pressure to normal safe operating conditions in the source, analyzer, and detector in less than one hour after venting; (5) an interfact for use with a Beckman EC; (6) atmospheric pressure chemical ionization and electrospray interfaces for EC and LC; (7) capability for collision induced fragmentation of ions; (8) ability to accommodate liquid flow rates over a range of at least 1 ul to 1.5 ml; (9) a computer system for instrument tune-up and control, data acquisition and analysis, searching an internal library with NIST and wiley data bases. The data system must be compatible with DOS based computers and also be capable of acquiring, storing and producing data files in a format that can be manipulated with common spread sheets, word processing systems and other mass spectrometer data systems; (10) All components necessary for system to be fully operational in all modes must be provided and installed by same manufacturer. Acquisition of system includes installation, training and two-year warranty. (0005)
