Location: Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL 61299-5000. The work to be performed includes combinations of thefollowing: 1. Remove asbestos building and tunnel pipe insulation, asbestos laden pipe intact, asbestos ceiling paper, asbestos bearing Board (E.G.: Transite), asbestos cooling Tower fill, asbestos ductwork, asbestos containing flexible duct joints, asbestos floor tile and bonding agent, asbestos contaminated Carpet, asbestos electricalfireproofing, and asbestos insulation from ductwork and pressurevessels. 2. Install new pipe insulation. 3. Provide asbestos Airborne sampling program as per OSHA 29 CFR 1926.58 and requirements established by the U.S. Department of Army office of the surgeongeneral. 4. Capping pipes: The method used to cap pipes shall conform to industry standard practices for the type of utility (I.E.: Cold water, hot water, steam, or condensate piping) beingserviced. Work to be completed by A plumber/pipefitter having 4 years Field experience or having completed A 4 or 5 year apprentice program. 5. Provide routine air sampling. These are samples that will not be taken as part of an abatement process but instead to establish abackground Reading of an area of the Government'S choosing. 6. Provide asbestos bulk sample testing. The work will be organized as batch jobs initiated by delivery order. The Line Items for use with this contract can be found in appendix A. The general outline of the principal features does not in any way limit the responsibilities of the contractor to perform the work under this contract. Estimated magnitude between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. Type of KT: Firm fixed price construction. Performance period is one year from date of award with one year option. Presolicitation notices will be issued approximately 07 Jan 95 and are due Back 10 days after issue. Approximate issue date is 19 Jan 95 with opening date 30 days fromissue.
