- The NAMRU-SA, DEHE Department requires one (1) laser-safe enclosure rated to withstand direct and scattered laser radiation from a 10kW laser, ensuring that radiation levels outside the enclosure remain below the Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) limits as defined by relevant safety standards. Specifications: Laser Radiation Protection: To withstand radiation levels of a 10kW laser, the enclosure must utilize material explicitly rated to withstand reflections from a laser powered at 10,000 W/cm, 1060-1070 nm for 10 seconds with a 1 mm beam diameter. This specific threshold provides the necessary barrier against direct or reflected beams from a 10kW source. Safety Interlock System: The enclosure must feature a fully integrated safety interlock system connected to the access door(s). The interlock must automatically disable the laser system's operation immediately upon an access door being opened. Physical Dimensions: The enclosure must provide minimum internal dimensions of 12 feet in length, 12 feet in width, and 10 feet in height (12' L x 12' W x 10' H) to accommodate the laser system, personnel, and associated equipment. Build Design: The enclosure must contain roof and lighting kit. Access Control: The access door mechanism must be designed to restrict entry to authorized and trained personnel only. Environmental Control: The enclosure must be designed to minimize the accumulation of airborne dust and particulates on internal optics and equipment. Standards & Compliance: The enclosure must be delivered with all required safety features to meet or exceed ANSI Z136.1 (""Safe Use of Lasers"") standards. This includes, but is not limited to, appropriate warning labels, signage, and emergency procedure information affixed to the enclosure. Warranty Terms: Standard 12-month warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
