- Description
- Sonosite Ultrasound Vascular Visualization System GENERAL: The CT and MRI Section of the Radiology Service at the New Porty Richey CBOC 9912 Little Road, New Port Richey, FL 34654, has a requirement for an ultrasound imaging system to aid in the visualization of patient veins during the process of placing IV access. BACKGROUND: JAHVA Radiology Service provides imaging services in multiple modalities at the New Port Richey CBOC, an offsite location without access to a specialized IV access team usually available to radiology in a hospital environment. CT and MRI imaging requires the IV administration of contrast for optimal imaging and diagnosis. Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists (DRTs) are entrusted with placing IV access prior to imaging. The physical condition of patients can undermine and/or compromise the ability of the DRT to quickly, accurately, and painlessly locate a 'good' vein in which to place the IV access. DRTs are already well versed in imaging techniques and are very well suited to the use/operation of the ultrasound imaging device for the purpose of vein location. There are numerous FUJIFILM Sono Site devices being utilized throughout James A. Haley Hospital and its associated clinics. PURPOSE: This compact, mobile ultrasound device will be used by the CT and MRI sections at New Port Richey to locate veins for IV access before contrast administration and imaging. It will reduce the number of unsuccessful vein attempts, improving patient outcomes and satisfaction, especially for patients who are difficult to stick. Unlike the hospital, New Port Richey CBOC lacks an IV Team; therefore, having this Sonosite device will enhance our service to veterans, prevent rescheduling, and increase Radiology service efficiency by minimizing missed appointments. SCOPE: JAHVA Radiology, New Port Richey CBOC, requests the contractor to provide a FUJIFILM Sonosite ST brand name ultrasound device, capable of operating in B Mode, M-Mode, and Color Doppler, and supporting linear, phased array, and curved array transducers. It must include a full range of measurement and calculation packages as specified below. The device must meet The Joint Commission, VHA directives, local policies, and other regulatory standards. The contractor will provide at least two days (16 hours) of training for Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists (CT and MRI) at New Port Richey CBOC. The contractor must have a current, active BAA.
