- Description
- PURPOSE The purpose of this sources sought notice is to conduct market research and identify potential sources of commercial products/services that satisfy the Governments anticipated needs. BACKGROUND The purpose of this is to procure specialize optical equipment that will be used in the state-of-the-art Flight Optics Test Evaluation and Characterization (FOTEC) lab within the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). A laser tracker alignment system (Leica AT960), and a theodolite (Leica TM6100A) are required to operate in the FOTEC cleanroom. This specialized optical equipment will create an interconnected and interdependent system for characterization, calibration and alignment such as but not limited to: integrating spheres, optical benches, diffusing screens, monochromators, VUV light sources. This will also enable multiple translation and rotation stages for moving test articles through generated light beams for performance characterization. This laser system will be equipped with multiple translation and rotation stages for moving test articles through generated light beams for performance characterization. The laser tracker and theodolite will interface to an existing software suite called Spatial Analyzer and its operating computer to perform 3D and 6DoF geometric analysis of space systems undergoing alignment. This equipment and the associated accessories will allow for measure mirrors, cubes, spherical mirror reflectors, and reference monuments within an instrument to align its optical components. The lasers will also be used in this cleanroom facility to provide a clean environment to protect sensitive space flight optics, electronics, and sensors through the assembly, calibration, alignment, and storage phases of their prototype and flight instrument lifecycles. The salient characteristics required are identified below. All requirements are to be understood to include the requirement that the systems are compatible with the Spatial Analyzer v2022 metrology software and computer interface (network or USB cable). NRL is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a solution that will achieve the requirements identified in this notice.
