- Description
- This is modification no. 2 to the special notice entitled ""80JSC025CLDPacquisitionUPDATE2024DEC which was posted on Dec 20, 2024. You are notified that the following changes are made: NASA will no longer hold an acquisition briefing (initially planned for January 2025) and instead provide updated presentation slides and answers to industrys questions. The following files are attached: CLDP Phase 2 Acquisition Industry Update Revised 27JAN2025 Questions and Answers from Dec 2024 Acq. Update NASA plans to provide additional opportunities to communicate to industry and intends to hold future acquisition strategy briefings as the acquisition strategy progresses. ************* end of modification ************* This is a modification no. 1 to the special notice entitled ""80JSC025CLDPacquisitionUPDATE2024DEC which was posted on Dec 20, 2024. You are notified that the following changes are made: The due date for responses is extended. All questions/comments must be submitted electronically via email to Rogelio Curiel at rogelio.curiel-1@nasa.gov no later than 5:00pm EST on Jan 10, 2025. The next acquisition briefing is tentatively planned the week of Jan 20, 2025 (additional details are forthcoming and will be posted on SAM.gov). ************* end of modification ************* This is a Special Notice and does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will take action in this matter. Background: As NASA plans for the retirement of the International Space Station at the end of the decade, the ability of private industry to take on the task of providing routine utilization of low-Earth orbit (LEO) and maintaining a continuous U.S. presence in space is of vital importance to both NASA and U.S. goals. In a multiphase strategy, the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Centers (JSC) Commercial Low-Earth Orbit Development Program (CLDP) is helping to spur the development of new low-Earth orbit space destinations and supporting systems from private industry. These systems may include end-to-end services such as the in-orbit destination, visiting vehicles, and supporting launch vehicles and ground systems. NASA is currently developing requirements for Commercial LEO Destination (CLD) capabilities to safely support operations of NASA astronauts and spaceflight participants in LEO on a commercially owned and operated space system. See the links here for additional information: https://www.nasa.gov/leo-economy/low-earth-orbit-economy/ and NASA's Low Earth Orbit Microgravity Strategy. Purpose: NASAs CLDP is providing an industry update per the attached presentation slides to communicate the CLDs Phase 2 acquisition strategy. Industry is invited to provide input in the form of written questions and/or comments to support NASAs evolving acquisition strategy and enable NASA to refine and mature the Phase 2 acquisition strategy. All questions/comments must be submitted electronically via email to Rogelio Curiel at rogelio.curiel-1@nasa.gov no later than 5:00pm EST on Jan 7, 2025. Please reference ""80JSC025CLDPacquisitionUPDATE2024DEC"" in any response. Telephone questions will not be accepted. NASA expects to provide additional information in the form of questions and answers; therefore interested parties should note that any questions submitted and their corresponding answers will be posted on this website on a non-attributable basis. NASA plans to provide additional opportunities to communicate to Industry and intends to hold future acquisition strategy briefings. The next acquisition briefing is tentatively planned the week of Jan 13, 2025 (additional details are forthcoming and will be posted on SAM.gov). No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on SAM.gov. Interested firms are responsible for monitoring this website for the release of any solicitation or synopsis.
