Description
BK Medical E14CL4b Biplane Endocavity transducer Transrectal and Transvaginal probes Product Service Code: 6640-Laboratory Equipment and Supplies NAICS Code: 334510 - Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing (Small Business Size Standards- 1,250 Average Number of Employees) Place of Performance: Bethesda, MD 20892 USA POTS: 25-001380 Description: This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued, and quotations will not be requested. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Purchasing and Contracts (OPC), intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract to BK Medical Holding Company, Inc. on a sole-source basis for the procurement of two E14CL4b Biplane Endocavity Transrectal and Transvaginal probes. These probes are specifically designed to support prostate biopsy fusion procedures. They represent an upgraded version of the current probes, offering enhanced image quality and greater ease of use. With sterile processing moving to the B1 space, additional probes are needed to manage the increased turnover time between cases and ensure uninterrupted, efficient clinical operations. Currently, there are only two probes available for surgery, which creates challenges when multiple cases are scheduled on the same day. Each probe must be cleaned, dried, and high-level disinfected between uses, with a turnover time of 30 minutes. When cases are scheduled back-to-back, especially those that are only 30 minutes long, this extended turnover time can lead to delays and backup in the surgical schedule. Purchasing a third probe would help streamline the process, ensuring more efficient care, reducing delays, and ultimately improving surgical outcomes for patients. The Department of Laboratory Medicine provides state-of-the-art laboratory testing in support of Clinical Center patient care and will serve as a center of excellence in research and training in laboratory medicine, particularly in areas, which utilize the unique strengths of the National Institutes of Health. The below items are required for this request: Product Number/Description of Item 9048/E14CL4b Biplane Endocavity transducer Transrectal and Transvaginal probes/2 The proposed vendor, BK Medical, is the sole manufacturer of the E14CL4b Biplane Endocavity transducer Transrectal and Transvaginal probes designed for use with the BK Medical Ultrasound machine currently located in and used in the Department of Perioperative Medicine. There are no other known sources that can provide these probes. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT), contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstance of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Contracts awarded using FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6-Competition Requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing this posting number, may be submitted to the Office of Purchasing and Contracts, prior to the closing date specified in this announcement, electronically to the attention of Damien Goines, Contract Specialist, damien.goines@nih.gov by November 20TH, 2024, 6:30AM EST. *** Please send your capability statements ONLY. This IS NOT a request for proposal. ***
