- Title Non-Federal Temporary Help Service for the Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) Product Service Code: R499 NAICS Code: 541715 Place of Performance: Bethesda, MD 20892 USA POTS: 24-009616 Description This is a notice of intent, NOT a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will NOT be issued, and quotations will NOT be requested. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a fixed price purchase order to Samar Sayedyahossein of London, ON N5X3Y1 to serve as a research scientist within the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Chemistry Service from September 15,2024 to January 31, 2025. The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Chemistry Service has a request for a research scientist position. �The research scientist will perform a variety of laboratory procedures with high accuracy and technical expertise, often with minimal supervision. Additionally, the research scientist will provide support services to help meet the Clinical Center's overall objectives. The primary aim is to achieve results and deliverables through these support activities. Dr. Samar Sayedyahossein has both the educational background and the specialized training desired for this research scientist position.� She has eleven years of research experience performing the specialized techniques required. She has extensive experience evaluating data, troubleshooting experiments, designing approaches when experiments do not work, presenting clearly and logically, writing manuscripts, and submitting them for publication. Dr. Sayedyahossein holds both an MD and a PhD and has designed and conducted a wide and complex variety of assays, tests, and studies. Her expertise includes proximity ligation assays, confocal microscopy, cell cultures, YAP transcriptional activity measurements, subcellular fractionations, cell Hippo pathway activation, insulin cell stimulation, western blots with Image Studio, evaluation, and quantification of protein phosphorylation on serine/tyrosine residues, generation and expression of fusion proteins, construct and express plasmids and dual luciferase-based assays. Dr. Sayedyahossein is proficient in transcription and translation assays and is familiar with breeding mice and isolating tissues.� She has performed highly specialized and advanced experiments which have been published in prominent scientific journals.� To provide excellent research support services, it is crucial to recruit scientists with specific qualifications and demonstrated knowledge in specialized techniques. The candidate must possess an MD and PhD and at least 5 years of experience in a research lab at the PhD level. In addition, experience performing proximity ligation assays, confocal microscopy, cell cultures, YAP transcriptional activity measurements, subcellular fractionations, cell Hippo pathway activation, insulin cell stimulation, western blots with Image Studio, evaluation, and quantification of protein phosphorylation on serine/tyrosine residues, generation and expression of fusion proteins, construct and express plasmids and dual luciferase-based assays is required. The applicant must have specialized knowledge of transcription and translation assays to immunoprecipitated select proteins from cultured human cells and be familiar with breeding mice and isolating selected tissues. The applicant must be able to perform all these duties without training or supervision.���� ****See attached Statement of Work**** Dr. Samar Sayedyahossein has both the educational background and the specialized training desired for this research scientist position.� This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 � Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT), contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstance of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available.� Contracts awarded using FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6-Competition Requirements. The total dollar value of this requirement shall not exceed the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT), $250,000.00. Interested parties may identify their interest and submit capability statements in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
