Description
Industry Day, Olympic National Park, Hurricane Ridge Water System Rehabilitation Site Visit & Discussion The National Park Service, CON OPS West, Olympic Major Acquisition Buying Office, seeks to clarify and refine the governments requirements for an upcoming procurement to rehabilitate the Hurricane Ridge water system. Work for this procurement consists of providing all labor, materials, tools, and other equipment necessary replace all original (1950s & 1960s) galvanized steel and asbestos cement water line and appurtenances with upsized fusion-welded high-density polyethylene water line for the entire Hurricane Ridge area, including water line extension to the Hurricane Hill picnic area comfort stations. Water line shall be replaced within the same trench as the existing alignment due to archaeologically significant areas. The 100,000-gallon in-ground reinforced concrete reservoir shall be rehabilitated by media blasting the interior surfaces followed by coating, curing, pressure testing, and disinfection. Meadow vegetation above the tank shall be salvaged, soil stockpiled, and the concrete reservoir cleaned and prepped to at least 6 below the roof-to-wall seam to seal and protect the reservoir from infiltration from above. Reservoir piping shall be reconfigured to facilitate unidirectional flushing. New hardwired telemetry, alarms, and pump control between the well/treatment building, storage reservoir, and temporary utility building shall be installed to allow source meter and reservoir level to be monitored from both the treatment building and the temporary utility building. Obsolete components of the original surface water treatment facility shall be demolished. Topics for discussion include the following: Archaeological monitoring will be required, and portions of trenching will require screening of all material for artifacts. Native subalpine meadow vegetation shall be salvaged to the extent possible, for replacement after trenches are backfilled. Equipment and approach to work shall minimize impacts to vegetation. Peak visitation to Hurricane Ridge directly correlates with the construction window during favorable summer weather conditions, and a construction zone will need to be established for safety. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic control may be required for portions of the work. Temporary restroom and potable water filling services will need to be retained for employees and visitors during water line replacement and reservoir rehabilitation. SITE VISIT: A site visit will be held at Hurricane Ridge on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 10:30 am. Hurricane Ridge is located 17 miles south of Port Angeles, WA near the end of Hurricane Ridge Road, accessed off Mount Angeles Road. The Olympic National Park entrance station is located five miles from Mount Angeles Road; all attendees who RSVP will be included on a list to have the park entrance fee waived for this site visit only. Attendees should park at the far (west) end of the main Hurricane Ridge parking lot (located ~12 miles past the entrance station) and meet up with NPS representatives at the temporary utility building located near the southwest corner of the main parking lot. Offerors are highly encouraged to attend the scheduled site visit to inspect the site and to ensure they fully understand the requirement and conditions that may affect the cost of the project, specifications, and performance. RSVP To: Kerri Cook, Kerri_Cook@nps.gov by C.O.B. Tuesday, September 10, 2024. RSVP should include both company name and individual attendee name(s).
