Description
The New York District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, intends to award a sole source purchase order to Michael & Associates, Inc. for the product ""FitCheck Solo."" FitCheck Solo is a product of Michael & Associates and is based on the HPD Well-Fit system developed by and licensed from CDC/NIOSH. This innovative system was developed by leading experts based on current industry needs. FitCheck Solo is the only Field Attenuation Estimation System (FAES) that does not require any external hardware. This is a significant advantage, eliminating communication errors, power supplies, and cumbersome cabling requirements. Standard FitCheck headphones are used, and subject responses can be made via keyboard or an external mouse, including an inexpensive wireless mouse. The general requirement is for FitCheck Solo to be used for hearing conservation purposes. This device meets the standards set by DOD 6055.12 Chapter 3.9(b) and ER-385-1-40. For hearing conservation purposes, quantitative HP fit-tests will be conducted at frequencies of 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz for initial HP fit-tests and for any positive STS. FitCheck Solo provides the necessary functionality to conduct these tests and ensure compliance with the required standards. FitCheck Solo is uniquely capable of measuring the fit and effectiveness of various types and brands of hearing protection devices (HPDs), including earplugs and other custom-molded protectors. The system can test a wide range of HPD classes, from standard foam earplugs to advanced ""Xmas tree"" style plugs, ensuring comprehensive evaluation and fit testing for diverse hearing protection solutions. Additional features include the ability to perform unoccluded test runs for multiple occluded runs on the same test day, selection of up to 7 test frequencies by the test administrator, excellent reporting capabilities, and convenient data storage. The combination of these features and capabilities makes FitCheck Solo indispensable for maintaining hearing conservation standards and protecting personnel effectively. Any vendor wishing to propose an alternative source must provide a copy of all relevant data demonstrating the alternative source satisfies the above requirements, by the required due date and time, to Michael Bonafede at: michael.a.bonafede@usace.army.mil. This is not a request to respond to a solicitation.
