- Sources Sought Notice Orchard Irrigation Upgrades- Utility Service Connection Sources Sought #1123241-SS This is a Sources Sought notice Only.� This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. �This Sources Sought is issued for information and planning purposes only as part of USDA ARS market research and does not itself constitute an RFP. Background The Appalachian Fruit Research Station (AFRS) in Kearneysville, West Virginia conducts fundamental, applied, and developmental research on critical problems of temperate fruit production (apples, peaches, pears, plums, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries). The AFRS develops new knowledge, germplasm, and technology to maximize productivity and quality of fruit crops to ensure a stable and cost-efficient supply of safe and nutritious fruits to American consumers. The facility currently utilizes water provided by a system of on-site wells, storage tanks and distribution piping to supply domestic water, fire sprinkler, and orchard irrigation requirements. The facility would like to restore the existing irrigation systems to fully functional conditions and to place additional acreage under irrigation. To ensure there is adequate water available to meet the increased demands for irrigation, the location would like to utilize public utility water to provide domestic water to the site. Requirements Provide an 8� domestic water service from an existing 8� West Virginia American Municipal Water Main located in the Clendening Drive Right-of-Way to the southeast corner of USDA�s property as Identified in Keyed Notes 1 and 2 on Drawing C-100, Revision 1. West Virginia Water, or their designated Contractor, will be responsible for obtaining all required permits and regulatory approvals and paying the associated fees. West Virgina Water, or their designated contractor, shall provide all quality control inspections; traffic safety measures; and coordination required by the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) for work performed within WVDOT�s Right-of-Ways. 2.0����� Place of Project ����������� Appalachian Fruit Research Station (AFRS) �������� �� 2217 Wiltshire Road ����������� Kearneysville, WV 25430 3.0 ���� Delivery Schedule The Period of Performance (POP) shall be one-hundred-eighty (180) calendar days from award. The Contractor Shall: This Sources Sought is only for the purpose of identifying potential sources as part of USDA ARS market research. The Government does not intend to make an award based on responses to this inquiry. This notice does not constitute a commitment by the Government. Responses to the information requested will assist the Government in determining the appropriate acquisition method, including whether a set-aside is possible.�� The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of qualified sources including any Small Businesses; HUBZone small business; service-disabled, veteran-owned small business; 8(a) small business; veteran-owned small business; woman-owned small business; or small disadvantaged businesses. Please state if you are a large business or a small business according to the NAICS code listed in this Sources Sought. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary, and the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government.
